Chambered Nautilus

"The Nautilus exhibit contains animals that have descended relatively unchanged from ancestors millions of years ago. During daylight hours these elusive creatures inhabit the deep dark depths of the reef drop-off at around 1,000 feet (about 300 meters). At night they ascend to about 200 feet (66 meters) to possibly feed and to deposit eggs that the female carries. There is much that is still unknown about these secretive creatures."  - http://www.waquarium.org/jet-set.asp

Coral Polyps

Don't you just LOVE aquariums? Lots of things to look at under crazy lighting.  This exhibit even had a magnifying glass to see the individual polyps.  What more could you ask for?

Pinhole (2)

Made another pinhole camera.  This time for Computer Vision.
It's really more of a scope that you look through for a picture.
Credit to Macky Franklin and Derek Campbell, my teammates.

Real World > pinhole < transparent film - your eyes.
Click through for a full gallery (pardon the tacky stylesheet... W3C compliant doesn't mean pretty)

Since there's no film, taking a picture involves sticking your camera in the viewing end, covering the whole thing for light-tightness and setting the shutter for something like 30" with a wide open aperture.  Loooong noisy exposure and that clichéd out pinhole effect.  Do I smell MySpace photo?  Do I actually know anyone with MySpace anymore?

Enjoy yourselves.

Romance? It's:

...wondering "How do I say..."

...a kiss or two?

...a little Angsty:

...creepy whales...??

...for Steve Jobs (sort of):

Happy Valentine's Day!

A look into the hundreds of 'unread' couple of 'read' items in my google reader.

I didn't take these photos, but we can't all have what we want, can we?
Go on; give me something to be romantic about

...and that should do it for my sappy quota today. Have a good one.

Hotels

Our view doesn't quite face the pacific ocean, but a few rays from the sun can work wonders

Hopefully we'll have some photos from the real camera soon, but hey... I'm on vacation, right?

Here's me enjoying the weather (100 degrees warmer than vermont!) and sending warm thoughts your way!
